Yesterday evening as I was driving home I noticed the all to familiar plumes of smoke rising from the country side. To this point in our adventures of living way out in the sticks we have been lucky enough to not have to battle wild fires. Last night that changed.
These are quick pictures from my phone at around 6:30 yesterday evening. Looking out from our front porch all the land across from us was ablaze. It was pretty unnerving but the presence of our local and neighboring firefighters helped to calm my nerves, although not by much.
After hours of fighting fire, we were safe. Thank goodness! It didn't even get to our land so that is definitely the best outcome.
Anyhow, I so wish in all the chaos I would have filmed Tyler and Melanie. They were soooo excited to see tons of fire trucks and firefighters in action. Tyler grabbed his fireman's' hat and ran around the house screaming "Fire truck! Fire truck!" It was pretty cute.
